Summer Crafts: Let’s explore the ocean with crafts!

Summer is the perfect time to let imagination soar and fill the days with color, creativity, and fun. At APLI Kids, we have the ideal activity to keep little ones entertained during the holidays: sea-themed crafts full of life and personality!

Material needed:

• Colorful cardboard
• Moving eyes
• Glue stick
• Scissors

Puffy Fish with Spikes

An original craft to make a fun pufferfish with a round body, 3D spikes, and popping fins. It’s perfect for developing fine motor skills and symmetry, while also encouraging creativity through color and geometric shapes.

Step by step:

1. Cut a large circle for the fish's body (half red, half pink).
2. Cut small triangles from red cardboard for the upper spikes, and pink triangles for the lower part.
3. Fold each triangle in half to make them pop in 3D and glue them all over the body.
4. Add side fins and tail using pink cardboard.
5. Cut and glue an oval mouth in white and grey, and finish with moving eyes to give it expression.

Jellyfish with hand cutouts

Aren’t they adorable? These cute jellyfish are made using the outline of the kids' hands, which adds a very personal touch to the craft. They can play with different facial expressions and colors to create a whole family of happy jellyfish.

Step by step:

1. On white or blue cardboard, trace and cut out a hand silhouette.
2. Cut a teardrop shape from lilac or blue cardboard for the jellyfish’s head.
3. Glue the hands to the bottom of the head to make the tentacles.
4. Cut two white ovals and two black circles to make the eyes, and glue them on.
5. Add facial details with markers: eyebrows, eyelashes, and a smile.

Articulated lobsters

These lobsters seem to come to life! Thanks to the strip cuts along the body and their cut-out claws, this craft has great volume and movement. It’s perfect for working on coordination, scissor precision, and exploring the underwater world in a fun way.

Step by step:

1. Fold a piece of cardboard into three parts and form a triangle for the body.
2. Make horizontal cuts on two sides to add volume.
3. Cut out and glue on the claws, legs, and tail.
4. Add moving eyes to the front of the body.
