Chess: Checkmate ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a disorder that affects 5% of the population. With a hereditary origin, it affects the youngest children to a greater or lesser degree, hindering concentration and therefore learning.
Logically – and many experts agree- it is desirable for children affected by this to avoid tasks or hobbies that require a lot of concentration, as they will soon be distracted and thus frustrated when they are not able to finish the tasks.
But, in the last few years, this idea has been contradicted by other specialists who affirm the contrary: they should be confronted with tasks that require a lot of concentration (such as chess), in a gradual and guided manner.

BLACK AND WHITE PIECES AGAINST ADHD

Some therapists recommend games like chess as a complementary therapy for children, and this must be correctly handled so as not to bore the child and make the stimulus ineffective.
But, if the child is properly guided, the symptoms of hyperactivity can be reduced, as well as creating habits that will help the child to make decisions, strengthen social skills and self-esteem as well as developing their visual memory and work capacity.
Not too bad!
